Description:
Copper alloy coin-shaped charm. Modelled on the spade-money issued by Wang Mang in AD 10. The side illustrated here gives the inscription found on the obverse (front) of Wang Mang spade money, written in the ‘hanging needle’ style of calligraphy. The hole at the top is designed to look like another of Wang Mang’s coins, this time a round coin with a square hole, issued in AD 7.
