Comments:Purchased by the donor at Tokyo Coin Auction, Spink-Taisei no.7, 1989, lot 624: ‘An interesting group of contemporary counterfeits which circulated in China around the turn of the century. The majority are Mexican cap and ray yen. Many pieces have been chopmarked, which indicates that they were circulated.’
