  In the ninth year of Yonghe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (353), Wang Xizhi and his friends held an elegant gathering of drinking water in the Orchid Pavilion in the shadow of the mountain in Kuaiji, Zhejiang Province. They wrote poems and advocated peace. Wang Xizhi wrote a preface and wrote a book, which is the famous “Orchid Pavilion Preface”. According to records, 42 people participated in this gathering, including Wang Xizhi’s son Xianzhi, some of whom wrote two poems, some of whom wrote one poem, and others who didn’t write a poem, were fined three cups of wine.
