Description:
Porcelain censer with incised decoration and yellow enamel on a dark blue ground. This shallow censer based on a bronze form, which stands on three ‘ruyi’ cloud-shaped feet, has a six-lobed body and raised six-lobed rim. Inside it is covered with a blue-white glaze. Below the rim, incised on a yellow ground within a rectangular frame, is a horizontal four-character Zhengde reign mark. Outside it is incised with formal ornate motifs punctuated by smaller scrolls above and below in between. These, the rim and feet are enamelled yellow on a dark monochrome blue ground.
