Description:
A lama / priest’s breast ornament. Circular, slightly domed, and made of metal (which?) with applied gold-coloured paint. Silver-coloured disc in centre with calligraphy worked in coral and two turquoise. Two concentric rows of turquoise. Two human faces centre front, bottom. Lined with light blue damask silk cloth with pink silk damask ties. Suspended below is an ‘apron’, covering, wider at bottom than top. Made from polychrome silk brocaded cloth and gold metal-wrapped threads (floral motifs on diamond mesh). Stripes of blue (inner), yellow, orange and green (outer) brocaded cloth on each side. Two thread loops at edge 25 cms from hemline. Solid blocks of silk fringing at hemline: blue/black (centre), cream (inner), light pink, dark pink, beige and green (outer). Lined with pink silk damask cloth.
