Period:Neolithic Period Production date:4000BC-2000BC
Materials:jade
Technique:cut, polished,
Dimensions:Diameter: 8.60 centimetres Height: 1.80 centimetres
Description:
Bracelet of opaque greenish yellow jade with brown veins and inclusions with soft polish.
IMG
Comments:This is a different sort of bracelet than 497 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.71] and it may, indeed, be wrong to call it a bracelet. The piece is shaped as a thick ring. Its convex outer edge (which damaged in places as a result of faults in the stone) suggests that it is not to be grouped with 414 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.66] and 497 [2014,AsiaLoan,1.71]. The inner edge is very smooth, either from wear or from the original polishing. Bracelets with a more pronounced curved outer surface have been found at Zhejiang Yuhang Fanshan and Yaoshan. There is a similar piece in the British Museum. See Rawson 1995, p.147, cat.no.6.3. The irregularly rounded bracelet with flat-cut sides has a curved outer rim with a chip which has been polished smooth. The inner surface of the aperture has been evenly finished off. Neolithic. Diameter 87mm.
