Comments:Lacquer box with red agate knobThis red lacquer box was commissioned by the British Museum for the opening of this gallery in 2017. It was designed by Jiang Qionger of Shangxia and made in Xipi technique by Master Gan Erke in Anhui province in China. Inside there are six black lacquered compartments with inscriptions on both the inside of the cover and the base. It is traditionally used to hold dry fruits on celebratory occasions.
