Description:
This rectangular porcelain box is made with three tiers and a cover. The bottom tier has feet attached at each corner of the unglazed base and a metal ring handle on either side, one of which is missing. Each tier is decorated with a design of red chrysanthemum heads in a green honeycomb frame. The cover is painted with two red and one yellow chrysanthemum. It has a Japanese gold lacquer repair to one side. The form and decoration of this box suggest that it was made in the early Kangxi period for the Japanese market.
