Rectangular porcelain “tomb tablet” porcelain box and cover with solid interior. Underglaze blue with flying horse, crane and clouds around a central four character inscription on cover. Extensive inscription on inside of lower part and long inscription on base.

A long inscription dated equivalent to AD 1555 is inside. The text communicates with the spirit world and includes biographical details of the deceased, an epitaph, a eulogy and a record of re-internment. The name of the deceased was Pan Zhaosheng, literary name Xianwen. He died in AD 1545 and was re-interred in 1555.
