Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Such small boxes were used as containers for cosmetics, incense or even red seal paste. Seal paste was made from ground cinnabar plus castor oil and a little ‘moxa punk’. Moxa is a downy material obtained from various plants, such as wormwood, and used in Oriental medicine as a cauterizing agent.
