Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Poor-quality blue-and-white porcelain bowls like this, possibly intended for drinking tea, have been excavated in domestic contexts in China. The tomb of Yang Rugui (1553-1639) and of his wives and concubines contained four blue-and-white bowls of similar quality, some with the character 雅 ‘ya’ [elegant], others with apocryphal Chenghua marks. It is possible that this bowls was also intended for drinking tea.See also BM 1985.1119.33, 34, 29 and 12.
