Description:
Shallow porcelain bowl with ‘mantou’ centre combining underglaze blue and overglaze yellow decoration. This shallow bowl has rounded sides, a sunken base and a domed ‘mantou’ centre. It is painted outside in underglaze blue with a prancing dragon in a central roundel with two dragons, one with its jaw open, the other with clenched teeth, pursuing flaming pearls among ‘ruyi’ clouds, surrounded by a dull yellow ground and with double blue lines around the inner and outer mouth rim and foot. A six-character Longqing reign mark in underglaze blue in a double ring is seen on the base.
