Description:
Porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This thickly potted ‘min yao’ bowl has rounded sides, a flared rim and a high straight foot. It is decorated inside beneath the glaze in blue with a plant spray in a double ring in the centre and at the rim with a diaper band of alternating crosses and five squiggles; outside is a sketchy lotus scroll. The greyish-blue glaze is ill-fitting and crazed with a fine brown crackle. The unglazed base has fired pinkish-beige.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Stylistically the underglaze blue decoration on this bowl is similar to that found on a dish excavated from a Jingtai period tomb in Jingdezhen.
