Description:
Porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This bowl has rounded sides and a slightly flared foot. It is covered with a monochrome grey-blue glaze. There is a six-character Zhengde reign mark in a ring inside in the centre and blue outlines on the inner and outer edge of the rim, the join of foot to bowl and inside the foot ring on the base.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:The quality of the potting suggests that this piece could not be an imperial item made in the period of the Zhengde emperor’s reign (1506-21), as is suggested by the mark. The chatter marks on the base and the poor fit of glaze to body all indicate that this bowl is a product of the late Ming period (c. 1620-44).
