The base has a four-character inscription reading 清華珍品 (Qinghua zhenping ‘clear and beautiful precious object’) in underglaze cobalt-blue on the base. The inside and base is covered with a transparent glaze. It was given a second lower temperature firing after potters picked out the dragon and cloud design in green glaze on a ground of yellow.
