Description:
Large porcelain Lianzi [lotus-seed] bowl with incised and moulded anhua decoration beneath a monochrome white glaze. Although of a similar size, this large deep lianzi [lotus-seed] bowl stands on a lower foot ring and has more distinct decoration than BM 1933.0410.1. Inside is a moulded design of two chrysanthemum sprays in the centre from which double lines radiate outwards and a border of faint leaves around the rim. Incised beneath a carefully executed key-fret border is a composite flower scroll which covers the whole of the surface outside. The base is glazed and convex with a nipple in the centre.
