This small wine cup has rounded sides, a mantou [loaf] centre and stands on a low foot ring; its rim is bound in copper. It is painted in red, green, yellow, turquoise and aubergine enamels inside within an underglaze blue central medallion. This frames a seascape beneath red and gold clouds showing waves crashing against stylised rocks. Outside it is decorated with two pairs of carp and aquatic plants. The base carries an apocryphal six-character kaishu reign mark in a single underglaze blue ring.
