Comments:Purchased from Tongying September 1922 for £45. DJ Rawson 1992:The characteristic blue-tinged transparent ‘qingbai’ glaze of early Jingdezhen wares is essentially the same in composition as the transparent glazes on Ming and Qing porcelains. ‘Qingbai’ wares were fired in a wood-fuelled reducing atmosphere, resulting in a cool tone. This piece was almost certainly made in imitation of a northern Ding ware bowl, BM 1973.0726.224.
