Porcelain bowl with straight brown glazed rim. The bowl has blue-toned glaze. There is a moulded decoration of seal character in medallions against a field of trellis on the interior of the bowl, with a key-fret border above, and a panel of lines below.

Comments:Room 95 label text:PDF 469Bowl with brown dressed rimSimple bowls of this type were made for the domestic market in China but were also sold to customers abroad. Precise dating may be problematic as their forms and decoration were a commercial success and potters continued to produce them over a long period. This one has a brown dressed rim which is evocative of the metal bound ceramics of earlier periods.
