Description:
This shallow porcelain wine cup is moulded in the form of a flower head with a lobed rim and fluted sides, decorated in iron-red, green, aubergine and yellow overglaze enamels. Outside three baby boys are depicted, wearing bibs, ankle and wrist bangles, and holding the stems of giant peony flowers. Inside a central floral motif is painted with lotus, peony and other flowers in the cavetto and a border of leaves and buds. The base is recessed and bears an underglaze blue hare mark in a double ring with a crescent moon attached to the encircling line.
