Comments:Published PDF date : Yuan late 13th -early 14th century Room 95 label text:PDF 260Bowl with incised characterPotters have carved the outside of this bowl with a typical overlapping lotus petal pattern. Its unusual feature is the inscription inside the bowl beneath the blue-green celadon glaze. A craftsman has is incised within a medallion an auspicious character which reads 福 (fu ‘happiness’). Inscribed characters are relatively rare on thirteenth century Longquan wares.
