Description:
Porcelain bowl with tall rounded sides and flared rim. There is a coiled young dragon with paws in a medallion in underglaze blue and overglaze red enamel in the centre of the interior, and two similar dragons against a red enamel ground on the exterior. There is a mark in underglaze blue on the base.

The Longqing emperor ruled for just six years. During his reign, the imperial kilns were supervised by a succession of local magistrates with no official staying in post for long. Jingdezhen suffered severe flooding during his reign and in AD1571 the kilns were devastated by fire.
