Description:
Porcelain bowl with liner and openwork sides decorated in overglaze turquoise and aubergine enamels. This bowl has sides with openwork, a low foot ring, a hole in the base and a thin shallow painted metal liner. In between the openwork, of a cross and bar design, are clusters of brocade balls with openwork edges and incised centres, framed by ‘ruyi’-shaped cartouches which are incised with comma or scale lines. A band of classic scroll is incised above and ‘ruyi’ heads below. The exterior is painted in the ‘fahua’ palette with overglaze turquoise enamel with some purple and some transparent glaze. The interior is glazed turquoise and the base is glazed and has fired yellow.
