Description:
Porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This bowl has rounded sides, an everted rim and a foot ring. It is painted inside with a flower spray in a ring and outside on either side with a bird in a flowering tree or shrub, possibly a tree peony. The inner and outer rim and join of foot to bowl are outlined with a single blue line and the foot is outlined with a double blue line. A spindly six-character Longqing reign mark is painted beneath the glaze on the base.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:The blue used on this dish is typical of the Longqing era. The cobalt is imported, very pure, and has a deep dark blue hue.
