Porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This bowl, which has rounded sides, an everted rim and a slightly convex base supported by a raised tapering foot ring, is covered with a blue-tinged ‘orange-peel’ glaze pitted with tiny indentations. It is decorated on the inside in the centre with a scrolling lotus spray within a double circle and in the cavetto with a continuous flower scroll with five blooms: hollyhock, lotus, peony, pomegranate and chrysanthemum. The rim has a band of scrolling chrysanthemums. The outside is decorated with different flowers – lotus, camellia, pomegranate, rose and hollyhock – with a border of key-fret above and lotus-petal panels below; the raised foot has a band of classic scroll. The base bears a six-character Xuande reign mark within a double circle.
