Description:
Porcelain ‘gui’-shaped bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This heavily potted ‘gui’-shaped bowl has a low straight foot. It is painted with a band of flower scrolls around the rim and a band of stylized ‘ruyi’ heads around the foot. The base is inscribed with an eight-character inscription arranged over two vertical rows which reads: ‘Wanli renzi zhen taoguan zhi’ [Made in the Pottery Moulding Office in the Renzi year of Wanli (1612)].
