Comments:Rawson 1992:The small, straight-sided cup is a Northern Song shape particularly favoured at the Yaozhou kilns of Shaanxi. Deeply carved decoration id typical of Yaozhou greenwares, though the opened flower motif also occurs widely on both Cizhou wares of the north and ‘qingbai’ wares from the south. Yaozhou wares are often known as northern celadon and may be broadly distinguished from the greenwares of east China by their olive-yellow rather than blue-grey tone. The Yaozhou kilns are best known for greenwares but, like other northern kilns in the Song dynasty, produced a wide range of black wares and ‘sancai’ in addition to the principal type.
