Description:
Porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This bowl has rounded sides and an everted rim and stands on a tapering foot ring. Outside it is decorated in a sketchily executed design outlined in dark underglaze blue and infilled with a paler blue wash. It shows two birds, possibly pheasants, one in flight, the other perched on a rock, separated by a giant tree peony and other highly stylized plants. Inside the bowl is painted with a single flower spray with rocks and foliage in a double ring medallion with double outlines at the inner and outer rim foot and a single line joining the foot to the body. The base is convex and marked with a poorly written six-character Chenghua reign mark in a double ring.
