Description:
Porcelain bowl with underglaze blue decoration. This bowl has rounded sides, an everted rim and a slightly convex base supported by a raised tapering foot ring. It is covered with a blue-white ‘orange-peel’ glaze pitted with small indentations and is painted in underglaze blue inside with a single stylized lotus spray within a double ring, and in the cavetto with five flowers with continuous scrolling foliage. Clockwise these are: pomegranate, lotus, tree peony, chrysanthemum and hollyhock. Inside the rim is a simple band of scrolling chrysanthemums. The outside is painted with a continuous design of scrolling stylized lotus blooms with a key-fret border above and lotus-petal panels below. The raised foot ring shows a band of classic scroll. The base bears a six-character Xuande reign mark within a double circle.
