Round bottomed bowl; originally on a carved wooden stand and with hammer. Inscribed “Shan States” near the exterior rim. Made of hammered, cast brass.

Comments:Old labels accompanying the bowl say, ” Gong from a Shan palace which was burnt. Given to Major Sladen by the Saubwa of Sanba.” The other reads, “Gong used to call the members of the family to meals in the palace (haw.) of the Saubwa of Hotha, in which Major Sladen resided.”
