Description:
Yue ware bowl (with foot). Decorated with a register of impressed rhomboid design, the interior of the high foot is unglazed and three small spur marks on the interior of the bowl indicate that another piece was stacked on top of it in the kiln. Made of olive glazed and stamped ceramic, stoneware.

Comments:Rawson 1992:Many Yue wares of the 3rd and 4th centuries resemble bronzes in their forms. Registers of impressed rhomboid design occur frequently on such pieces and possibly imitate the bands of ornament cast on bronzes. See also BM 1947.0712.46.
