Comments:Rawson 1995:Belt hooks in jade appeared first in the Eastern Zhou period. Two distict forms were used: hooks made only of jade and hooks of jade sections supported on gold, bronze or iron armature. Garment hooks in ancient form have come from a variety of Yuan tombs and they are generally rather ornate, with birds heads. A small delicate example with a duck head is reported from a site at Suzhou in Jiangsu. Another similar piece is in the collection of Sir Joseph Hotung, on display at the Jade Gallery, British Museum. See also BM 1937.0416.47 and BM 1955.0718.39.
