Description:
Porcelain vase in the form of an ancient bronze ‘gu’ with a crackled green glaze. This vase is made in the form of an ancient bronze drinking vessel called a ‘gu’. It has a flared neck and foot which then is cut into the base and in the centre is a thickened tube. The base is glazed and the foot ring unglazed. It is covered with a crackled green-grey glaze.

Comments:Harrison-Hall 2001:Interest in archaism was particularly in vogue with the literate classes towards the end of the Ming era when ceramics, fashioned in ancient metal-work shapes, were very popular.
