Comments:Rawson 1995:Fu Hao’s tomb did not include beads carved with animal heads. However, examples of beads decorated with animal heads similar to the present piece have come from Anyang Houjiazhuang tomb 1001 and from a Shang tomb at Shandong Yidu Sufutun. It is possible that this bead was an older piece decorated in the Shang period. The jade shows a well-developed ability to depict creatures.
