Description:
Banknote issued by a private organisation ‘Tongcaigao Bank’, dated 1851. Tall note, printed in traditional (envelope) style. The name of the bank, and framework for the denomination and date are printed in blue, with the details added in black and red. There are also a number of red stamps. The handwritten notes, mostly names and numbers, written on the obverse and reverse, would have been added as the note changed hands. The large black ring around the denomination on the front indicates that the note was removed from circulation.
