Description:
Baby carrier, in T-shaped construction with tying bands. Of hand-woven indigo-dyed cotton. Decorative and functional band borders lower part of T and curves up and round to end in the lower edge of tying band. Decorated on main body in embroidered counted work in repeat design of alternating formal birds, butterflies and flowers in red, pale blue, white and green silk. Border band with warp strips of black, white and red with embroiderey filling into the two side stripas. At very edge is band with embroidered star pattern on the diagonal.

Comments:Text from Corrigan 2001: 61: taijiang county, qiandongnan prefecture. T-Shaped Baby-Carrier. The top of the T is extended on either side by bands that tie around the child’s bottom and are secured at the woman’s waist. The base cloth is a hand-woven indigo-dyed cotton cloth, which shows no sign of use. The main decorated panel is embroidered in counted work and has probably been remounted.
