Description:
Bundle of 34 small silk bags most of which contain a the same small paper sutra book address to ‘Om mi to fo’ (Amitabah). The silk was yellow but is now a rather dull grey.

Comments:Buddhist amulets would have been sold individually as protection. The wearer could open the book and recite the text. If they recited the sutra properly they would ensure that they were reborn in the western paradise where Amitabah resides. From comments made by Stephan Feutchwang 25/04/2008
