White ground gold red cloud dragon plate, Xuantong of the Qing Dynasty, with a height of 3cm, a caliber of 24cm, and a foot diameter of 14cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
Plate straight mouth, plate edge, straight abdomen, circle foot. Four character regular script with “Auspicious Luck” in the foot blue and white book. The whole body is decorated with red color and gold, and the center and edge of the plate are painted with cloud dragon chasing bead patterns. The outer wall of the disc is plain and without any decorative patterns
This dish is one of the Western tableware varieties collected in the palace. Pu Yi began studying in the palace on July 18th in the third year of Xuantong’s reign (1911). In the eighth year of the Republic of China (1919), a British scholar, Johnston, was invited to teach his English at the Yuqing Palace. Under the influence of Johnston, Puyi began to pursue a Europeanized life, and from this point on, Western tableware was also used in the palace
