[Bright Yellow Silk Embroidery Peony Pingjin Tuan Shou Single Cloak]

Bright Yellow Silk Embroidery Peony Pingjin Tuan Shou Single Cloak, Qing Guangxu, with a body length of 136.50 cm, a total length of 132 cm at both sleeves, a cuff width of 35 cm, a hem width of 115 cm, and a left and right train length of 58 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
This is a casual dress worn by the Empress Consort of the Qing Dynasty in summer. It has a round neck, a large front and right lapel, flat sleeves, and a straight robe. The sleeves and elbows are rolled up and folded up to four layers, which is one of the decorative features of the casual clothes of the late Qing empresses. Open the train from left to right to the armpit, adorned with Ruyi Cloud Head, and decorated with a copper plated buckle. The fabric is bright yellow plain silk, with thick weft threads, dense weaving, rough and crisp, especially suitable for embroidering large patterns. The cloak is embroidered with white, lake colored, and light green folded peonies. On the gray branches, the three blue tinted leaves are elegant and lifelike, exuding a light and meaningful, elegant yet not thin traditional Chinese ink style of light color. The large folded peonies are adorned with gold embroidered group longevity characters, highlighting the beauty, wealth, and nobility of royal household items in an elegant and tranquil atmosphere. The embroidery thread is relatively thick, but the stitches are fine and flat, neat and regular. The traditional methods of stitching, such as burying needles, looping needles, wrapping needles, flat needles, and beating seeds, are simple and lively, which combines the exquisite elegance of Jiangnan embroidery with the rough and generous style of northern embroidery. It is worth noting that the waterways of needle embroidered peony petals are seeded with blue silk threads instead of hooking, giving the petals a natural, three-dimensional feel and unique style
Trimming is one of the outstanding features. The narrower edge decorations are woven ribbons or plain satin or plain silk, while the widest edge decoration has the same texture, process, and pattern as the clothing fabric, and is manually embroidered. However, its color contrasts greatly with the bright fabric, mostly deeper than the fabric color, highlighting the gorgeous fabric and its exquisite weaving and embroidery process. The hem of the cloak has a width of 21 centimeters, and from the inside to the outside, there are three blue dance butterfly tapestries woven in gold, a peony edge with the character “Yuanqing satin flat gold longevity”, and a long round longevity edge with the character “Yuanqing woven in gold.”.
