Yellow ground blue longevity rectangular flowerpot, Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, height 6.2 cm, mouth length 25.3 cm, width 16.4 cm, foot pitch 23.9 cm, 14.4 cm
The flowerpot is rectangular in shape, with a flat mouth, gradually tapered straight walls, and a flat bottom that supports four feet. The interior is decorated with white glaze, and the exterior wall is decorated with a yellow ground blue color seal script with a “longevity” character pattern. There are gold string patterns on the upper and lower edges, and the mouth edge is decorated with yellow ground red color echo patterns. The exterior of the foot wall is decorated with gold echo patterns. “Tongzhi Year System” 4-character regular script with white glaze and red color on the bottom
This utensil has a regular shape, a thick and heavy carcass, and is decorated with the word “Shou” on the yellow ground, with a regular calligraphy style. It was specially fired by the imperial kiln during the Tongzhi period for the birthday celebration of Empress Dowager Cixi
