Copper plated astronomical telescope

[Copper Plated Astronomical Telescope]

Copper Plated Astronomical Telescope, manufactured in London, England, in the 19th century, has a length of 160 cm, a cylinder diameter of 12 cm, an objective lens diameter of 9.5 cm, an eyepiece diameter of 4 cm, and an eyepiece aperture of 1 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
This is a copper plated single cylinder refracting telescope. When not in use, the objective lens is covered. Its achromatic objective lens is composed of two glass lenses. A convex lens made of ordinary glass, with a thick center, a thin periphery, and a thickness of 0.4cm at the edge, is finely polished, and the mirror body is transparent and bright; The other is a concave lens made of flint glass, with one side flat and one side concave, the edge thickness of which is 1cm, and the mirror color is slightly yellow. When installing the objective lens, the convex lens is in front and the concave lens is behind. The convex and concave surfaces of the two glass mirrors are tightly combined, which shows the exquisite manufacturing process. The tail end of the telescope protrudes a 37cm long copper eyepiece tube, which is adjusted by a bolt on the right side of the tube. The eyepiece tube can be retracted by 8cm, and is used to adjust the focal length when observing the target. Engrave the English words NEGRETTL&ZAMBRA LONDON on the copper tube of the eyepiece. In addition, a small telescope with a length of 25cm is attached to the upper left side of the eyepiece near the lens barrel. The lens is attached with a cross wire. When observing the target, it presents an inverted image, which is used for astronomical observation. It is called “finderscope”
This astronomical telescope is mounted on a triangular mahogany frame with a height of 190 centimeters. The frame is supported by iron bearings, and a long iron rod is suspended inside. The adjusting bolt knob lens barrel can be rotated up, down, left, and right. The left side of the iron bearing is engraved with the words “Yongchang Shanghai HIRSBRUNNER&CO SHANGHAI”, and the right side is engraved with the words “NEGREITL&ZAMBRA LONDON”.
