“Treasure of Honoring Relatives in Jiaqing”, Qing Jiaqing, Shoushan Stone with Shaped Buttons, Rectangular Seal, Chinese Seal Script. The surface is 9.7 centimeters long, 9.3 centimeters wide, and the overall height is 17.8 centimeters
The “treasure of honoring relatives” was generally made shortly after the accession of the new emperor, and was used for honoring posthumous titles or emblems. This “Jiaqing Honorable Treasure” has already been used on the Shendao Stele of Emperor Qianlong’s Yuling in the early years of Jiaqing, and is the earliest one among the Jiaqing Emperor’s seals
The body of the treasure is carved with mountains, stones, trees, and dragons, with patterns representing “Heaven Protects the Nine Rulings” interspersed between them. At the top, there is an inscription that summarizes the meaning of the carved image, “Ruiye Jiuru, Longevity Endless.”. Its carving is exquisite and vivid, with a high level of craftsmanship
At the lower part of the front of the treasure body, there are inscriptions such as “With a medallion on the hair, carved out in the shape of nine figures, with the symbol of Yashi, and the symbol of Zhenli Fan. Zhanmeng Dayuan offered the moon to Xu,” as well as “Qing Palace” and “Appreciation”. According to “Er Ya Shi Tian”, Tai Sui’s “presence in the second month of Zhan Meng” refers to Sui Yang; “Offering in the Great Abyss of Hai” is the name of the year. “Zhanmeng Dayuan Xian” is the year of Yihai. From the inscriptions and seals, it can be seen that the carving of this treasure was completed at least in the 20th year of Qianlong’s reign (1755, the year of Yihai) by imperial craftsmen from the inner government for the purpose of congratulating on birthdays, and by the early years of Jiaqing, it was engraved with the current seals. Therefore, this treasure represents the level of palace Shoushan stone carving during Qianlong’s reign
