The Jide Hall was actually a residence prepared by Emperor Qianlong for future successors, originally located in the Rehe Summer Resort. According to the wishes of Emperor Qianlong, he will continue to train his government after returning to power. His residence in the Summer Resort is as old as before and will not be changed. Therefore, in the 57th year of Qianlong’s reign (1792), a new residence was built for the successor emperor, and it was named “Jide Hall”. Emperor Qianlong’s explanation for what he did was: “Yanbo Zhishuang is here, which used to be the residence of the emperor’s ancestors in the past. Given that Yan was suitable for this place for decades, there is no more spacious place in the mountain villa. The return to government has been near, and since then, it has been planned to construct the residence of the successor emperor. The year before yesterday, I have ordered my office to be located in the open space behind the Pine and Crane Zhai, just like the system of Yanbo Zhishuang. I have come here this year, and the work has been completed, as the name of its hall is’ Jide ‘. Considering the great interior of the capital, the main palace should be the residence of the successor emperor, while I have repaired the Ningshou Palace as early as possible for entertainment Old land. “If the Mountain Manor comes only for the purpose of avoiding the summer, not for the proper period, that’s another matter.” After Emperor Qianlong announced that it was located in Yongyan, this place was granted residence for Yongyan. At the same time, within the imperial palace, Emperor Qianlong followed this precedent, designating the Yuqing Palace as the residence of the successor emperor, and naming the rear hall “Jide Hall”, with a inscribed plaque hanging here. After succeeding to the throne, Emperor Jiaqing lived here until the death of Emperor Qianlong. Because of this, the “Jide Hall” held an important position in the early life of Emperor Jiaqing’s accession to the throne. Since Emperor Jiaqing rarely visited the summer resort, this seal should be kept for imperial use in the Palace Relay Hall
