Yixing Kiln Purple Sand Blue Glazed and Colored Lotus Big Flower Pot, Qing Qianlong, height 48 cm, caliber 60 cm, bottom diameter 40 cm
The edge of the flowerpot plate has a deep belly and rounded feet. There is a large round water outlet in the middle of the bottom, surrounded by four small holes. The inner wall is smooth and the outer wall is painted with dark brown purple sand. The inner edge of the mouth is decorated with a green colored and golden lotus pattern, the outer edge is decorated with a blue colored pine, bamboo, and plum blossom pattern, and the outer edge is decorated with a blue colored echo pattern and a Ruyi cloud head pattern. The abdomen is painted with blue colored scrolled lotus patterns, the bottom is painted with deformed banana leaf patterns, and the foot edges are painted with pine, bamboo, and plum patterns
This basin is large in shape and finely painted. The blue color applied is in harmony with the dark brown color of the purple sand embryo, which is elegant without losing its liveliness. It is an ideal article for the imperial family to plant large bonsai during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The Palace Museum currently has 4 pieces in its collection.
