Book of the Sixth Panchen Lama

[Book of the Sixth Panchen Lama]

Book of the Sixth Panchen Lama, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, 450 centimeters vertically and 75 centimeters horizontally. The old collection of the Qing Palace
In the 45th year of Qianlong’s reign (1780), the sixth Panchen Lama, Erdeni, trekked thousands of miles and went to see Emperor Qianlong on his 70th birthday to strengthen the relationship between Tibet and the central government. This is his dedication to the book, written in three languages: Manchu, Han, and Tibetan. The Tibetan script is written horizontally on Tibetan paper in gold and ink in cursive script, with a smooth font and a seal of Zhu Wenyin at the end of the book, which reads “The Treasure of Erdeni in the Panchen Lama”. The Chinese and Manchu versions of the book are written in yellow silk and printed in ink. These three types of playing books are placed in envelopes made of Fendi Double Lion Ball Brocade. The first half of the book is composed of five character poems, extolling the Emperor Qianlong as the incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva in Buddhist language, followed by a list of gifts. Along with the book, there are also two Tibetan scriptures, each written in ink on both sides on thick Tibetan paper, totaling 46 pages. One of them is a scripture praying for the longevity of Emperor Qianlong: “Please Emperor Reside in the World”, titled “Fearless Lion Roar”; Another sutra, entitled “The Bodhisattva White Umbrella Buddha Mother Achieves the Ritual Sutra of the Gandhi Dew Bottle,” is also a prayer for the Emperor’s longevity. Each of the two sutras is wrapped in a bundle. The inner layer is exquisite Hui Wen brocade, and the outer layer is magnificent red ground lotus woven gold satin
The recitals and scriptures are collected together in a colored lacquer long leather box for use in the Yuhua Pavilion Buddha Hall.
