Carved Red Baizi Map Treasure Box, Qing Qianlong, with a total height of 8 centimeters and a caliber of 14.2 centimeters. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The box is round, with a tin body, painted with red paint, and a bas-relief picture of a hundred children playing. The top and bottom of the box are decorated with a courtyard background. Children play various games, such as riding bamboo horses, setting off firecrackers, or wrestling. The scene is vivid. The cover wall and box body are carved with patterns of children fighting crickets, cockfighting, and hide and seek. Due to the body carved with hundreds of children, it is called “Hundred Children Map”. The center of the cover is engraved with regular script and the name of the “Hundred Children’s Treasure Box” is filled in gold. The center of the inner bottom of the box is engraved with regular script and filled with gold “Made in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty”
This box is heavily painted and finely carved. The depiction of children in groups adopts a relief technique, with a convex shape similar to a circular sculpture, which vividly displays the image of children, representing a typical style of carved lacquer during the Qianlong period, and is a masterpiece of carved lacquer
