White jade longevity character with halberd square Gu, Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, height 24.5cm, caliber 8.9 × 8.3 cm, foot diameter 6.7 × 6.4 cm
The square Gu is made of white jade, with local black spots. The square mouth is slightly outwardly curled, with a straight edge, a long neck, a convex belly, high rounded feet outwardly curled, and an upright skirt underneath. The neck and feet are adorned with banana leaf patterns and thunder patterns, while the abdomen is adorned with gluttonous patterns. The neck, abdomen, and feet are decorated with eight halberds, with the seal character “Shou” carved on the surface. The regular script Qianlong imperial poem is engraved around the mouth: “Hetian tribute beautiful jade, made of quality and quantity. It is not based on popular patterns, but it is taught to imitate ancient Chinese paintings. The round square is of unique quality, and gluttonous food is reserved for human consumption. Jiufu is a drinking utensil, and flowers are used to chant and entertain.” At the end of the sentence, “Emperor Qianlong Yisi, Imperial Titles” was inscribed, and two seal scripts, “Understanding the Heart Not Far” and “De Chongfu”, were carved in the Yang script. Yisi is the fiftieth year of Qianlong (1785)
The product is made of Hotan Jade, which is warm and smooth, antique in shape, and beautifully decorated. There are as many as 100 characters of “longevity” carved on the surface of the halberd, and there are imperial poetry inscriptions chanting the product. It has high historical and artistic value.
