The scroll of Su Shi’s inscription on the imperial palace of Emperor Qianlong of Kesi

[Kesi Qianlong Emperor Lin Su Shi Tie Axis]

Kesi Qianlong Emperor Lin Su Shi Tie Axis, Qing Qianlong Emperor, 74 cm in length and 24 cm in width. The old collection of the Qing Palace
This work is based on the copy of the manuscript of Frost Remnant Calligraphy by Song Dynasty calligrapher Su Dongpo (Su Shi) by the Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The blue running script Frost Remnant Calligraphy is woven in the original color of the work with techniques such as flat cut and draping cut. The strokes are strong and smooth, which is quite Dongpo style. The works are inscribed with “Qianlong Chen Han” and “Self improvement”, and are stamped with “Three Compilations of the Treasure Collection” and “Hidden in the Treasure Collection of Shiqu”
Su Shi’s brushwork is rich and varied, with an interest in innocence, and his poems are fresh, bold, and vigorous, leading the way. Therefore, he was highly praised by the Emperor Qianlong. In his spare time, he also loved to visit Su’s poems and copy their charm. This work is finely woven, maintaining the rounded style of Qianlong calligraphy without losing the brushwork and artistic charm of Su characters. It is a masterpiece of imperial tapestry.
