The blue imperial robe is one of the imperial gowns of the Qing Dynasty, and is worn for major sacrificial occasions such as the Winter Solstice Round Hill Altar to offer sacrifices to heaven, pray for grain, and pray for rain. This robe has a round standing collar, a large front and a right lapel, horseshoe sleeves, and a lower part of the waist curtain decorated with folds. The upper and lower garments are connected, with a shawl attached, and six copper gilded flower buttons decorated. The cape and back are decorated with a bright yellow tapestry, coral, rice beads, and clouds on the back. The edge of the robe is decorated with a blue dragon miscellaneous treasures woven gold satin and a three color plain gold silver border, each lined with a moon white entangled chrysanthemum dark flower satin lining. The body of the robe is decorated with a combination of two to four color halos and fading halos. Using embroidery techniques such as flat needles, needle sets, plain gold, thread stitching, wrapped needles, banqueting needles, and seed beating, patterns such as colored clouds, golden dragons, sea water, river cliffs, and twelve chapters are embroidered on a blue satin ground. The composition is complex and solemn, the halo is natural and harmonious, and the embroidery is exquisite and subtle, highlighting the royal style of elegance, luxury, and resplendence. It is a typical masterpiece of Suzhou embroidery during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.
