The Chonghua Palace was originally the second of the five Qianxi temples in the Ming Dynasty. Emperor Qianlong was the residence of the emperor when he was his son. He had lived here since he married at the age of seventeen. Therefore, after his accession to the throne, he upgraded it to the Palace and became known as the Chonghua Palace.
